2. High vegetable antioxidants

Therefore, consume the foods that high in antioxidants when suffered high Gout. Examples of low-purine and high-antioxidant vegetables (lycopene, vitamin E, or beta-carotene) include:

  • Red cabbage - 1 cup (raw and chopped) contains 600 mcg of beta-carotene.
  • Red bell pepper - 1 cup (minced and sauteed) contains 500 mcg of lycopene, more than 3 mg of vitamin E, and more than 1600 mcg of beta-carotene.


3. Vegetables rich in fiber


In addition to low purine and high antioxidants, good vegetables for other Gout sufferers are fiber-rich. Fiber is not only good for the health of the digestive system, but also slows the absorption of nutrients - so that the purines are processed more slowly so that Gout levels remain low.

Examples of low-purine vegetables rich in fiber are carrots - 1 cup (raw, cut) containing 3.5 grams of fiber. About fiber, try to consume at least  25 grams / day for  women, and 38 grams / day for men.

Avoid High Purin Vegetables!


In fact, most vegetables are low purine if compared by other high purine food sources such as beef, offal, or yeast. However, there are some high-purine vegetables that should be eaten occasionally.

Examples of high-purine vegetables that should be minimized consumption (preferably no more than 2 times a week) are:

  • Asparagus
  • Lentils
  • Mushrooms
  • Spinach
  • Cauliflower
  • All beans
  • Peas
